Nanna Ditzel and her husband Jørgen Ditzel designed Madame in 1951. Their experimental approach to materials led to the shell shape with soft, feminine lines, which gave the chair its name. Skilled wicker makers make it by hand from Indonesian rattan. Sika-Design uses carefully selected Indonesian rattan. Unlike hollow bamboo, rattan is solid, so the furniture is strong and lasts for generations. It belongs to the ICONS collection, in which Sika-Design brings back designs by renowned designers in close cooperation with their descendants.
